Richard Stone is a British sculptor exploring stillness and movement through works rich in archetypal themes. He works between London, United Kingdom and Pietrasanta, Italy.
Recently cited in The Sunday Times, Financial Times, British Vogue and Le Monde, his sculpture was cited as the direct inspiration for the JOSEPH AW26 collection, shown at Tate Modern during London Fashion Week 2026. Stone’s works are collected internationally by private, corporate and institutional collectors. He has an MA from Central Saint Martins and is further classically trained through a scholarship and apprenticeships in Italy, including through the tutelage of Helaine Blumenfeld OBE. Awarded a Brit List award (with Artiq) in 2023 for his OWO | Raffles London public commission, he has also been published alongside Vija Celmins, Kris Martin and Gabriel Orozco and exhibited with Matt Collishaw, Derek Jarman and Michael Raedecker.
Stone's practice combines direct carving alongside collaborations with master Italian artisans. Working between London and Pietrasanta, he integrates traditional techniques with contemporary thinking, exploring how ancient methods meet present-day sculptural expression.
Each of Stone's works captures an arrested moment between stillness and movement, forming a unique perspective that spans from exploring masculinity in historic sculpture to investigating the sensuality of form and materiality in classical materials.
