WHEN HISTORY FALLS SILENT, THE FUTURE WILL FAIL
In this work, Stone disrupts historical depictions of the heroic masculine, taking a found object of a traditional figure in working pose, which he has part obfuscated with wax until its features are smoothed out. The entire object is then cast in bronze. The result is a new contemporary object, reminiscent of a shadow boxer with a quieter, but no less palpable presence and softer, reflective stance.
Creating this frozen moment in time, both visually arresting and conceptually driven, Stone has essentially created distance with the original object but has retained a link with its historical past.

MATERIALS AND FINISH
The luminescent qualities of white bronze have been utilised to create a unique finish for this sculpture. This piece has also been sandblasted and a matte black patina used to fix, in order to accentuate the softer, reflective stance.
